Slicers Honor Senior Jules Schadt; Fall to Lake Central 99.45 - 104.275. Last night we honored our senior Jules Schadt in her final meet of the regular season. Jules competed in gymnastics for over 10 years and was a varsity gymnast for three years. Schadt was 11th on vault 7.85, bars 5.8, 12th on beam 6.425 and floor 6.925, and 8th all-around scoring a 27.0, which was her first meet competing all events. Her season was cut short due to some health issues but she has been an integral part of the team and we will miss her next year. Evie Travis led the Slicers winning floor with a season high of 9.4. She was 4th on vault 8.7 with an uncharacteristic fall, 4th on bars with a 7.8, 2nd on beam with a 9.05, and 2nd all-around 34.95. Kate Doty also earned her season best on floor with a 9.375 placing 2nd behind Travis. She was 6th on vault 8.5, bars 7.35, and beam 7.975, and 5th all-around 33.2. Elena Lozano was 8th on bars 6.95 and 10th on beam 7.4 after overcoming an injury she suffered from cheerleading. Genny Witulski tied for 10th on vault with teammate Maddie Johnson scoring a 7.95. Witulski was 11th on beam 7.125. Johnson was 7th on bars 7.025 and 11th on floor 7.3. Molly Thibideau was 10th on bars 6.3, 8th on beam 7.9 and 10th on floor 7.5. Makenna Minnick was 9th on vault 8.2 and floor 8.175. For Team 2, Marlee Dhoore was 5th on vault 7.2, 5th on bars 4.05 of which she competed for the first time, 6th on beam 6.25, 4th on floor 7.225, and 2nd all-around 24.725. Makenna was 3rd on bars 5.075 and won beam 7.9. Molly was 4th on vault 7.5, Maddie was 4th on beam 7.075, and Genny was 2nd on bars 5.625. It has been so much fun working with this group of girls this year. We had more depth and I've enjoyed watching the girls grow individually, support each other, and have fun. The Slicers finish 2-6 in the DAC and 5-5 for all meets. This Saturday they travel to Chesterton for the DAC meet. We also honored our LaPorte Gymnastics Club as our HS feeder program. Several club gymnasts came to support the team. The girls also signed the National Anthem using the American Sign Language with the help of Ms. Joanna.
