By Mike Eldridge | Jan 22, 2026 2:29 PM

The LaPorte Slicers faced a challenging night on the mat against a strong Chesterton Trojan squad, falling by a final score of 60–15. While the result didn’t swing their way, the match was far from a step backward. With the loss, the Slicers now sit at 16–14 on the season—a record that reflects a team battle-tested by tough competition and still very much in the fight as the season pushes forward. Several Slicers stepped up in a big way, showing the determination and resilience that define LaPorte wrestling. Lucas Marshall continued his impressive season with a hard-earned decision victory, improving his record to an outstanding 10–2. His consistency and composure on the mat have been a major bright spot for the team. Bryice Fain brought the crowd to its feet with a decisive pin, adding another statement win to his season and moving his record to 19–9. His aggressive style and finishing ability continue to be a spark for the Slicers lineup. Lane Strefling also contributed valuable team points with a forfeit win, pushing his season record to 18–16 and exemplifying the perseverance that keeps this team moving forward. Losses can sting, but they also sharpen focus—and this LaPorte squad is clearly learning, growing, and gearing up for what’s next. The Slicers won’t have to wait long to get back into action, as they return to the mat this Saturday, January 24th, at Culver Academy. With confidence in their work ethic and belief in one another, expect the Slicers to bring intensity, pride, and plenty of fight to their next matchup.
