Girls Swimming and Diving Beats Merrillville 124-51

The LaPorte Girls Swimming and Dive team came off a stellar DAC Championship weekend, and faced the Merrillville Pirates today. LP won every event, cruising to a 124-51 victory. The Slicers opened the meet with a big win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Cali Hatala (backstroke), Grace Caviston (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Liz Luna (freestyle). Isabel Barron and Sarah Peterson went 1-2 in the 200 Freestyle, with Barron getting a season PR. Barron also won the 100 Butterfly. Noor Hakim and Madi Griffin went 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley. Hakim also won the 100 Breaststroke. Grace Caviston and Grace VanHook went 1-2 in the 50 Freestyle. Caviston and VanHook also went 1-2 in the 100 Freestyle. Michelle Clark won diving with a score of 147.05. Liz Luna, Sarah Peterson and Cali Hatala went 1-2-3 in the 500 Freestyle, with Hatala swimming the event Breaststroke. The 200 Freestyle Relay was won by Isabel Barron, Sarah Peterson, Grace Caviston and Grace VanHook. Cali Hatala, Liz Luna and Aleah Borkowski went 1-2-3 in the 100 Backstroke. The girls finished the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Isabel Barron, Madi Griffin, Cali Hatala and Noor Hakim. Griffin had a 2 second drop with a lifetime PR. The girls record climbs to 13-7. They host New Prairie on Thursday to close out their regular season heading into Sectionals. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
