The Slicers Girls Swimming and Dive team finished 6th at a very fast DAC Championship meet today. With a sixth place finish, you'd think there wasn't much to celebrate, but our Girls swam the best meet of the season by far. We had 23 individual swims and 3 relays, and LP had either Lifetime Best swims (LTPR) or Season Best swims (PR) in 22 of them! Here's a breakdown of how the meet went for us: 200 Medley Relay: 5th with Cali Hatala (backstroke), Grace Caviston (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Isabel Barron (freestyle). Season PR (PR). 200 Freestyle: Grace Caviston 13th LTPR, Liz Luna 15th, and Sarah Peterson 16th all with PR's 200 Individual Medley: Cali Hatala 12th LTPR 50 Freestyle: Isabel Barron 10th PR, Grace VanHook 16th LTPR, and Londyn Pravecek 21st LTPR. 100 Butterfly: Noor Hakim 12th, Madi Griffin 16th. LTPR's. 100 Freestyle: Isabel Barron 9th, Grace VanHook 16th, and Michelle Clark 17th. VanHook and Clark with LTPR's 500 Freestyle: Sarah Peterson 14th LTPR, Liz Luna 15th PR. 200 Freestyle Relay: 6th with VanHook, Clark, Luna and Peterson PR. 100 Backstroke: Cali Hatala 12th LTPR, Aleah Borkowski LTPR, and Londyn Pravecek LTPR. 100 Breaststroke: Grace Caviston 5th LTPR, Noor Hakim 11th PR. 400 Freestyle Relay: 6th with Barron, Hatala, Caviston and Hakim PR. Big Slicer Shoutouts to Sarah Peterson, who dropped 6 seconds in the 500 Freestyle, Aleah Borkowski, who dropped 12 seconds in the 200 IM, Madi Griffin, who dropped 6 seconds in the 100 Fly and Michelle Clark, who dropped 2 seconds in the 100 Free. It was a fun meet, and the competition was fierce. We just missed 5th place by 3 points with Portage outscoring us 151-148. The Slicers host Merrillville this Tuesday and then begin the two week taper process heading into Sectionals. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
