LaPorte v Lake Central

By Mike Eldridge | Jan 9, 2026 2:25 PM

Despite a tough 44–30 loss to the Lake Central Indians, the LaPorte Slicers showed heart, depth, and determination on the mat—qualities that continue to define their season. The setback moves the Slicers’ overall record to 16–12, but the night was filled with individual performances that highlight just how dangerous and resilient this team is as the postseason approaches. Leading the way was Porter Ivankovig, who delivered another victory to improve his season record to an impressive 30–3. Justin Dieken (23–10), Grant Uhlemann (24–9), and Christian Ford (24–7) each picked up important wins, demonstrating consistency and toughness in their respective weight classes. Undefeated junior Lucas Marshall continued his perfect season, moving to 7–0, while Bryice Fain added another strong victory to improve to 17–6. Each win reflected the hard work being put in every day in the wrestling room and the competitive spirit that defines the Slicers program. While the final team score didn’t fall in LaPorte’s favor, the effort and fight shown throughout the match speak volumes about where this team is headed. With momentum from strong individual performances and a season full of growth, the Slicers are ready to get back after it. LaPorte will return to action at home on Wednesday, January 14th, when they host the Portage Indians at 6:30 p.m
