The LPHS Girls Gymnastics Team tied for 4th at their Pairs Invitational Saturday, December 20. Portage was 1st, Elkhart 2nd, Chesterton 3rd, Crown Point tied with LaPorte for 4th, Plymouth was 6th, and New Prairie 7th. The Pairs meet is a 2-gymnast team entry where each gymnast competes two events for combined all-around score. Each team can enter up to 4 pairs. Junior Evie Travis & Sophomore Kate Doty placed 3rd overall with a combined AA score of 35.15. Travis was 4th on vault 8.6 and bars 8.25, and Doty was 3rd on beam 8.95 and 2nd on floor 9.35. Pair Junior Genny Witulski and Freshman Molly Thibideau scored a combined 30.45 placing 13th. Witulski was 9th on vault 7.9 and 5th on beam 8.75, and Thibideau was 15th bars 6.2 and 12th floor 7.6. Junior Elena Lozano and Freshman Makenna Minnick scored a 30.0 all-around placing 14th. Lozano was 12th on bars 6.7 and 12th on beam 7.6 and Minnick was 13th on vault 7.4 and 9th on floor 8.3. Freshman pair Maddie Johnson and Marlee Dhoore placed 17th overall with a 27.7 combined score. Johnson was 14th on vault 7.3 and 10th on baras 7.05 and Dhoore was 16th on bam 6.3 and 14th on floor 7.05. There were 23 pairs entered into the annual event and the girls had a great start to their season. The Slicers host their season dual opener against Chesterton on Wednesday, January 7.
