Varsity vs Mishawaka Marian High School (49-41) Win The Slicers Ladies Basketball Team played host to the Undefeated 3-0 Marian Lady Knights Tuesday Night at beautiful Slicer Gym. The Slicers got off to a HOT start jumping on the Knights early 16-3 in the first quarter. Eva Walker (Freshmen) was phenomenal in the first frame handling pressure and knocking down big shots. The Knights went on a run of their own and was able to recapture the lead in the second quarter after the Slicers stalled out offensively and the Knights capitalized on fouls and finishing at that free throw line. The score was 26-23 Marian @ Halftime. The Slicers went into the lockeroom not pleased with their end to the 2nd quarter and talked about the mistakes that were made. Adjustments took place and the kids had a renewed spirit heading out of the lockeroom. The 3rd quarter was a faster pace with the Slicers out scoring the Knights 12-11 and cutting their lead to 2 points 37-35. Siona Ohime (Sophmore) was sensational getting to the paint and scoring or assisting her teammates. The Slicers entered the 4th knowing what they needed to do to achieve the Victory. The girls were Marvelous in 4th out scoring Marian 14-4 to finish the game. Lexi Surowiec (Junior) Rae Dawsey (Senior) Maura Grant (Sophomore) were OUTSTANDING defensively down the stretch for the Slicers! Keianah Hart (Freshmen) battled foul trouble all night but was an absolute force in her minutes played. Mishawaka Marian had lots of size with Byer and Bozer and our freshmen battled hard. Leading the way for the slicers! Siona Ohime- 16 points, 4 AST, 5 steals, 5 rebounds Eva Walker- 11 points, (3-3pt) 4 steals Keke Roundtree- 9 points, 8 rebounds Our Cheerleaders, Dance Team, Student Section, Family and Friends were AMAZING! The girls loved every ounce of support!! Slicers are back in action Saturday @ New Prarie. It's RIVALRY time, make sure we pack the house Saturday with orange and black!!
