Girls Middle School Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · High Expectations

Last year the LaPorte Girls Cross Country team finished 7th in the State. With returning 6 of their top 8 runners there are high expectations for the Slicers. The defending DAC Champions feature sophomore Shelby Riehle (18:52), who was the DAC 3200 Champion in Track and is the girls’ highest returning State finisher. Junior Jenny Noll (18:48), senior Katie Pickford (19:00), junior Kat Shuble (19:03) and junior Mo Troy (19:59) are the other State Qualifiers returning this season.

Rachel Gerick (19:56), just a sophomore, was a top 7 competitor last year before being sidelined with an injury. A pair of seniors Courtney Dickman and Roby Rogers also have varsity experience. Juniors Nichole Flowers, Nikki Parsons and Sarah Schoof will compete for spots along with sophomore Sierra Beach and newcomer sophomore Riley Tuerff.

The girls have been working hard all summer putting in mileage and hitting the weight room in preparation to the 2016 season. Expectations are high, but they feel they are up for the challenge. You can get your first look at the team at the Jack Bransford Classic Saturday August 20th at Kesling Park.
