LaPorte Slicers JV Baseball Loses Despite Out Hitting Lake Central Indians

LaPorte Slicers JV fell 6-5 to Lake Central on Wednesday despite out-hitting the Indians nine to six. Nolan Wilson and Joey Kirk each collected two hits for the Slicers. A single by Kirk after a 6-pitch at-bat put LaPorte on the board in the top of the first inning. An error tied up the game in the bottom of the first. A single by Wilson gave the Slicers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second. A sacrifice fly by Keegan Ramos extended the LaPorte lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning. Owen Barenthin homered to left-center field, scoring two runs and trimming the lead to one in the top of the seventh. Ramos took the loss for the Slicers. The starter went four innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out five and walking eight. Khalen Matzke came on in relief to throw the remaining two innings. The reliever allowed three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking none. LaPorte collected nine hits in the game. Barenthin lead the team in RBIs with two. The Slicers JV Baseball team is next in action Saturday, April 20th, when they will take on Plymouth at DeCamp Field. First pitch is slated for 11:00 a.m.
