Two Players Drive In Three To Lead LaPorte Slicers JV Past Penn Kingsmen JV 16-3

Khalen Matzke drove in three runs on one swing of the bat to lead LaPorte Slicers JV past the Penn Kingsmen JV 16-3 on Tuesday. The Slicers won thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning. Joey Kirk was struck by a pitch, Nate Moses doubled scoring two runs, Matzke homered to center scoring three, Owen Barenthin doubled scoring one and Jack Travis doubled, scoring two runs. Six more LaPorte runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 16-3. Matzke hit into a fielders choice but a run scored, Reed Raymond homered to center field scoring three, Travis doubled scoring one while a passed ball scored another. Cody Benedict earned the win for the Slicers. Benedict allowed three hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking three. An error put Penn JV on the board in the top of the first. LaPorte collected nine hits in the game. Moses, Travis and Raymond each collected two hits for the Slicers. LaPorte Slicers JV is next in action tomorrow, March 27th, when they will travel to Hobart for a 4:30 pm start.
